Welcome to Praxis 2026

Sept 27, 2026 - Feb 21, 2027

Praxis is a workshop organized by volunteer members of Resource Generation, an organization that mobilizes young people with wealth/class privilege (or people whose partners have wealth/class privilege).

During Praxis, we:

Talk honestly about our class identities
Build relationships and community
Reinforce our understanding of racial capitalism
Examine our sense of “what is enough” to live fulfilling lives
Learn about leveraging privilege for social change
Set personal goals around giving and redistribution

To support deeper learning, participants are placed in affinity-based small groups. This year, we will meet twice a month for 9 total sessions, from September to February.

What do we mean when we talk about "praxis?"

"One of the gravest obstacles to the achievement of liberation is that oppressive reality absorbs those within it and thereby acts to submerge human beings' consiousness... To no longer be prey to its force, one must emerge from it and turn upon it. This can be done only by means of the praxis: reflection and action upon the world in order to transform it."
Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1968)

Welcome to Praxis: personal transformation in the service of our values

in-person
Open to all

What does it mean to transform ourselves? Why is it so hard? Which of our values are driving our desire to change, and how can we remain aligned with them? What is it like to sit with the shame, dissapointment, and hopelessness that accompany this kind of process? And how, when we're ready, can we move through them? These are the kinds of questions we'll be attempting to answer for ourselves during the course of this six month-long, nine-session workshop.

In this opening session, we will meet together as a group to get a sense of where we're starting out. We will ask ourselves what we want from ourselves, from our relationships, and for the world. And then we will discuss what it will take for us to become the kinds of people who can transform these dreams of a better world into reality.
